Y para conseguirlo, es necesario dejar de verlo como aquello tan difÃcil y agotador de manejar. Lo invitamos entonces, a cuidar su jardÃn de una manera fácil y entretenida.
Enero es un mes de relajo para el jardÃn. Hay poco que hacer y mucho tiempo para disfrutarlo.
Riego:
Sigue siendo la actividad más importante del mes. Normalmente se requiere riego diario el que puede hacerse muy temprano en la mañana (no más allá de las 8:30 a 9:00 horas) o muy tarde en la noche.
El más eficiente siempre es el riego de la noche.
- El tiempo con riego automático es de alrededor de 15 minutos. En riego manual va a depender del caudal de agua que disponga.
Es necesario diferenciar entre riego y refresco. El riego es profundo. En caso del pasto por ejemplo, el agua debe penetrar de 8 a 15 cms. por riego.
- Siempre va a ser preferible regar dÃa por medio pero profundo, que regar todos los dÃas un poquito.
- No descuidar maceteros, porque se deshidratan muy rápidamente.
Pasto:
Corte mÃnimo una vez por semana con altura máxima. Hay que seguir controlando malezas, recuerde que el desmalezado se hace a mano.
- En cuanto a los árboles, conviene hacerles un riego muy profundo una vez por semana, pero tenga cuidado con los pimientos, grevilleas y espinos que son de secano y se enferman con mucha agua. Sobre todo hay que poner atención cuando están sobre pasto.
- Siempre debe controlar la aparición de hongos tanto en pasto como en arbustos. (Oidium, Botrytis, Roya, etc.) En el pasto, éstos pueden presentarse como manchas circulares de color café. Igualmente debe seguir controlando babosas y caracoles.
- En Rosas, controle pulgones y oidium. Recuerde hacer la fertilización mensual con salitre. Elimine flores secas cortando frente a una ramita con 5 hojas y elimine chupones. Las rosas requieren riego profundo.
Las podas en Enero son simples:
- Todo árbol o arbusto variegado o injertado exige que se eliminen los chupones.
En los variegados se eliminan aquellas ramas que aparecen a ras de suelo con color verde parejo; de no hacerlo, la planta entera puede perder su caracter de variegada.
- En los injertados también se eliminan las ramas que provienen de la base del tronco y que pertenecen a la planta original. Se reconocen porque son distintas al resto de la planta.
- Como siempre, la limpieza y despunte de aquellos arbustos que han perdido su forma por un fuerte y desordenado crecimiento es un quehacer obligado este mes.
- No olvide recortar hiedras y por ningún motivo debe dejarlas florecer.
